We Believe...
AquaponicLIFE OUTREACH
There is enough money and technology available to allow everyone on the planet to have enough food. We spend trillions on war, entertainment, luxury travel and more, but thousands of people are still dying every day because they don't have enough food. Wikipedia states:
"On the average, 1 person dies every second as a result of hunger - 4000 every hour - 100 000 each day - 36 million each year.
On the average, 1 child dies every 5 seconds as a result of hunger - 700 every hour - 16 000 each day - 6 million each year (2002-2008 estimates)."
Will Aquaponics save the world? The answer is "No, it won't." The world lives predominantly off of mass produced carbohydrates. It takes millions of acres to produce these carbs. Aquaponics will never replace that. Many people get enough calories, they just don't get enough vitamins, minerals and protein and as a result become malnourished. Aquaponics looks promising as a way to make a dent in that problem.
The solution that some organizations resort to is to collect funds to buy food to feed these starving and malnourished individuals. The challenge with this system is that after the food is distributed and consumed, these people go right back to their original dilemma of of malnutrition, thus requiring more funds to buy more food to continue this vicious cycle. The corporations producing the food are the only ones to benefit from this process.
AquaponcLIFE OUTREACH believes that through education and technology many malnourished individuals and groups can learn to nourish themselves. Sure they need funds to get started but once they learn how it's done, these groups and individuals no longer need our support and continue to feed themselves with the knowledge they've gained. No longer are they victims of a lack of knowledge and resources.
There is a wonderful organization by the name of KIVA (www.kiva.org) that helps individuals and groups help themselves by offering zero interest repayable business loans funded by individuals like yourself. They have an extremely high (98.91%) repayment rate. It is our goal to come up with an Aquaponics business plan for individuals in countries of need, to inexpensively purchase and construct the parts necessary to build an Aquaponic Farm that not only provides food for their families but has enough excess to be sold for profit to enable the repayment of the loan. The great thing about KIVA is that once the loan is re-payed, the money can be put back into the system and used to help other individuals and groups benefit in the same way, over and over again!
AquaponicLIFE OUTREACH is committed to sharing the abundance because we know there is enough for everyone. There is enough technology and there is enough money. The information is free. If you are interested in sharing you can donate any amount you wish and the funds will be used to distribute materials and knowledge about Aquaponics to those in need. We can feed them for a day or we can help them learn to feed themselves for a lifetime... the choice is obvious.
